The Chatelaine's Scottish Castles

Brahan Castle

near Dingwall, by Inverness

The site of Brahan Castle is located 3.5 miles south-west of Dingwall which is north of Inverness on the east coast of Scotland.

The original castle was built by the Mackenzies in the 17th century but was demolished in 1953. The famous Brahan Seer (Coinneach Odhar) had prophesised that the family would lose everything and this indeed came to pass. The Brahan Estate has full details about this castle and the clan.

A house was built out of the old stables.
