Trekking/Hiking Tours - Car hire/rental
If you would like to take time out from your activity holiday with Bespoke Highland Tours and explore some of our great cities, a City Break may be just what you are looking for.
They are designed to be added on to your Walking tour as extra days either at the start or end of your itinerary. We also offer Car hire/rental if required.
We book you into economical convenient, friendly B&B's and supply you with a range of recommendations and ideas to enable you to experience the cultural architectural and historical aspects of these cities, each of which have their individual merits.
Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Inverness, are all linked by an excellent public transport system and can all be visited during the course of a few days. You can make the most of the likelihood that your point of entry into Scotland will be Glasgow, Edinburgh or Inverness. Castles, museums, buildings of architectural merit, concerts, pubs are just a few examples. If you have a particular interest, let us know and we will do our best to incorporate it into your break. We also advise on travel and eating out possibilities. All this is contained in your City Break Tour Pack. We hope that this service will complete what will be a memorable visit to Scotland, experiencing both the magnificent scenery and the vibrant culture.
Just a few examples of what we mean:
Glasgow
Charles Rennie Mackintosh architecture and tea rooms, the famous Burrell Collection, Cathedral, museums of all types. Cosmopolitan cuisine. Home for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Ballet, Citizens Theatre. Some superb examples of classic Victorian architecture. All these are in a relatively small area linked by an underground, train and bus service. City of Culture, city of friendly hospitable people, Glasgow has undergone a renaissance as a great city after the problems associated with the decline of heavy industry.

Stirling
Recently become more famous as a result of the publicity surrounding the film Braveheart, Stirling has arguably the most spectacular and interesting castle in Scotland. The battle site at Bannockburn as well as the Wallace monument are easy to visit as well and don't miss Stirling's Jail! It's geographical location has led to the city having a key role in the history of Scotland, well worth a day trip at least. Stirling is 40 minutes from Glasgow. |
|
Edinburgh
The administrative capital city famed throughout the world, not least for the annual Edinburgh Festival. You should not miss the Royal Mile, the castle, the new Royal Museum and wander around the narrow winding streets for a flavour of the past. Georgian architecture, lively pubs and eating places all contribute to the atmosphere in Edinburgh. Very busy in August, though you can commute from Glasgow (50 minutes) if we cannot find accommodation for you in Edinburgh.
| Inverness |

The capital of the Highlands, set on the lovely River Ness which is linked of course, to Loch Ness. Notable for it's pretty suspension bridges and lovely walks along the banks of the Ness, Inverness has plenty to offer for a day or two prior to or after a cycling or trekking tour. There are many places nearby worth a visit, such as the Culloden battlefield and Cawdor Castle. See The Internet Guide to Scotland for more sightseeing ideas. |
These are the costs of our City Break packages, when taken together with one of our BHT tours. The B&B accommodations are Guest Houses (except Edinburgh). All prices quoted are pounds per person per night. Full details of our selected B&B's and Hotels on application.
