Cairnsmore is a Victorian terraced house which is very centrally located in a quiet residential area, only a few minutes walk from the bus and train stations, and the heart of Inverness city centre. It has been renovated by its owners, Jennifer and James Wilson, to offer a high standard of comfort and quality while still retaining the feeling of being, very much, a Scottish family home.

We have 2 guest bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin (both with ensuite facilities). All rooms have central heating, TV, hospitality tray, radio alarm, wash-hand basin, and hopefully everything you will need to relax after a busy day sightseeing, shopping or hillwalking!

The twin room and double room have recently been refurbished and have ensuite shower facilities.

Alternatively, you can relax in a soothing warm bath or refresh yourself in the shower in our large, luxurious main bathroom. Just the thing for sore feet and tired bones!

In the morning come down and join other guests for a superb Highland breakfast made with fresh local produce. Sample our homemade porridge, scones, jams and marmalade, freshly squeezed orange juice, followed by a full cooked breakfast with vegetarian options. Exchange travel stories and news with our other guests and make new friends at our table. Early breakfasts can also be arranged by prior request.

Just 150 miles north of Edinburgh, Inverness is very easy to reach by car or public transport. Cheap flights operate regularly from London to Inverness Airport where car rental is available. Several trains run every day from London via Edinburgh and Perth to Inverness. Overnight sleepers are also possible from London (see the rail timetables online). CityLink has an extensive coach network linking all the major towns in Scotland (view the coach routes and times) and there are also many bus services to/from smaller towns. It is an ideal base from which to tour the Highlands and for those without a car, there are daily coach trips in the summer to a variety of scenic and historic sights. Inverness Castle

Inverness is the bustling capital of the Highlands with many musical and cultural events taking place throughout the year including the Highland Games and Inverness Tattoo. As well as visiting the shops, restaurants, museum, art gallery, theatre, sports facilities, etc., you can also take boat trips to spot the monster on nearby Loch Ness or to see dolphins in the Moray Firth.

The Scottish Highlands are sprinkled with castles and you are spoilt for choice around Inverness with Cawdor, Brodie and Urquhart all open to the public and just a short drive or bus ride from the city. Only 2 hours away is the famously picturesque Eilean Donan Castle which is well worth a trip to the west coast.
