Just across the River Ness from Macrae House is Eden Court Theatre including the old Bishop's Palace which is said to be haunted by the 'Green Lady'. The Theatre and cinema host events all year round. Granted city status in 2001 for the Millennium by H.M. The Queen, Inverness is an ideal base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands.

Around Inverness you can visit castles such as Cawdor, Brodie, Urquhart, Kilravock and Moniack.
Other historic places include Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, the Clava Cairns, Sueno's Stone, Beauly Priory, Hugh Miller's thatched cottage and Cromarty Courthouse. Madonna fans may wish to head north to Dornoch where she got married last year! And even if you are not a fan, you may still enjoy a walk inside the 13th century cathedral. |
